A Message from Our Superintendent

July 2026

Welcome to another exciting school year at Little Red School! I hope you had an opportunity to rest, recharge, and enjoy time with your family and friends. As we begin the 2026–2027 school year, I am filled with excitement and gratitude for the incredible team that makes our school such a special place.

This year’s theme is “Wicked” (Wicked in slang means awesome, kind, brilliant): Wicked smart, wicked kind, wicked successful; as we defy gravity, we’re unlimited, as we follow the yellow brick road to success! It reminds us that there are no limits to what we can accomplish when we believe in ourselves, support one another, and always keep our students at the heart of every decision we make. Like the message from Wicked, we each have the power to rise above challenges, embrace change, and discover strengths we never knew we had.

Every child who walks through our doors deserves a champion-someone who believes in them, encourages them, and inspires them to dream bigger than they ever imagined. That champion is each one of you. Whether you are teaching in the classroom, transporting students, preparing meals, maintaining our campus, supporting our offices, or serving behind the scenes, every role is essential in helping our students succeed.

This year, I challenge each of us to Defy gravity by:

  • Growing professionally and personally.
  • Setting high expectations for ourselves and our students.
  • Building meaningful relationships with every child and family.
  • Supporting one another with kindness, respect, and teamwork.
  • Celebrating every success, no matter how small.
  • Believing that together, we are unlimited.

As we begin this new year, I’m excited to share our teaching team:

  • Kinder & 1st Grade – Ms. Hernandez with support from Para-Educator, Ms. Yumara
  • 2nd Grade – Ms. Gonzales
  • Intermediate Grades 3rd–5th Grade
    • Mrs. Lopez – Language Arts
    • Mr. Lopez – Mathematics
    • Para-Educator – Mrs. Leslie
  • Middle School (Grades 6–8)
    • Language Arts – Mrs. Dupuy
    • Math – Mrs. Martinez
    • Science – Mrs. Shaju
    • Social Studies – Mr. Bastidas (Mr. B)

As a small rural school, our size is one of our greatest strengths. We know our students by name, we celebrate their accomplishments, and we come together like family during both the joyful moments and the challenging ones. That sense of community is something truly magical, and it is what makes Little Red School so extraordinary.

This school year, let’s create classrooms filled with curiosity, laughter, creativity, and high-quality learning. Let’s encourage our students to think boldly, dream fearlessly, and believe there is no limit to what they can achieve. Together, we will continue building a school culture where every student feels valued, safe, challenged, and inspired.

As we begin this new journey together, remember:

“Because we knew each other, we will all be changed for good.”

Each interaction you have with a student, parent, or colleague has the power to make a lasting difference. Never underestimate the impact of your kindness, encouragement, and dedication.

Thank you for choosing to be part of the Little Red School family. Thank you for your passion, your commitment, and the countless ways you make a difference every single day. I am honored to serve alongside each of you, and I cannot wait to see all that we will accomplish together.

Here’s to a year of growth, courage, innovation, and success as we defy gravity and show our students-and ourselves-that we’re unlimited.

Let’s make the 2026–2027 school year our most magical, meaningful, and successful year yet!

With appreciation,

Kathy Romero
