2018-2019 Proposed School Calendar

Be sure to check out the 2018-2019 proposed calendar to see what the next school year is shaping up to look like.

Bagged School Lunches

We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause, but we are unable to heat up lunches brought in from home. It is in the best interest of your child as we are concerned about his/her safety with lunches that could be overheated. Our school staff is also limited, and we are unable to leave the cafeteria unsupervised to heat up lunches.

Here are some suggestions for school lunches:

  • Sandwiches
  • Burritos
  • Pasta salads
  • Chicken/tuna salads
  • Tossed salads
  • Fruit salads
  • Bagels and cream cheese

Thank you for your understanding!

Zero Backpack Policy

In an effort to continue to provide a safe school environment for you child, we have a zero backpack policy in force for 3rd through 8th grades.

Here are some very important things to remember:

  • Backpacks are distracting and allow students to bring unnecessary items into the classroom.
  • Schools across the nation with the most violations of drugs and/or weapons, acclaim that these items are mainly found in the student’s backpacks.
  • According to the National Crime Prevention Council, backpacks should not be allowed at schools as an effort to promote student safety.
  • Students carry more unrelated school items in their backpacks than school related items. A homework sheet or school flyer easily fits in a folder.
  • Researchers have found that in addition to back pain associated with backpacks, the strenuous weight of unneeded school related items or the improper carrying of backpacks can cause muscle and joint injury that could lead to severe back, neck, and shoulder pain and the development of poor posture.

We understand that during the year binders break, and it takes time to replace them.  If your child needs time to get a binder, please send him/her to school with just a notebook, pencil, and necessity items without the backpack. Thank you for your help in keeping all of our students safe!
